Rams secure first points

Derby County secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Pride Park.

Derby County got their season up and running following a thrilling 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Pride Park.

The Rams entered the contest with no points having lost their opening two games, but got off the mark against the East Anglian outfit.

The home side took the lead when Marco Reich met Tommy Smith's cross perfectly to head home.

The goal only spurred on the visitors and just goals before the break gave Town a half-time lead.

Firstly Tommy Miller netted from the penalty spot after Ian Westlake was fouled in the box, before Dean Bowditch capitalised on a poor backpass to score.

Derby came out all guns blazing after the break and Inigo Idiakez equalized after the break when he curled home from a free-kick.

There was still time for a winner and that came about when Reich capitalised on some poor defending to score from close-range.

Substitute Marcus Tudgay almost made it four late on, however the striker headed wide.
