Pesch out six weeks

Derby County striker Paul Peschisolido is out for up to six weeks with a thigh injury.

Derby County striker Paul Peschisolido has been sidelined for up to six weeks with a thigh injury.

The Canadian international sustained the injury in the warm-up before Saturday's 3-0 home win over Southend United.

The 35-year-old's absence is a blow to Rams boss Billy Davies, with Derby down to two fit strikers in Steve Howard and Arturo Lupoli.

The former Preston North End manager may opt to find reinforcements as a result.

"It's something we've got to think about as we're left short, especially with Giles Barnes suspended," Davies told the club's official website.

"Pesch has got a nasty thigh strain that he picked up making a side-footed finish before the game, and is looking at six weeks out."

The one consolation for Davies and Derby is that the Championship club do not play again until the October 15 trip to Plymouth Argyle.
