Holmes heads to Holland

Derby winger Lee Holmes is training with NAC Breda with a view to joining the Dutch club.

Derby County winger Lee Holmes is training with NAC Breda with a view to joining the Dutch club.

The 20-year-old failed to feature under Billy Davies last season and made 19 appearances during a loan spell at Bradford City.

He has been interesting Huddersfield Town, but Andy Ritchie concedes the League One club can not afford to sign Holmes on a long-term loan.

Holmes has now been allowed to head out to Holland to train with NAC until the middle of the week.

NAC have confirmed on their website that the young wide man is at the club, although there is no comment on the type of deal that would be arranged.

The Eredivisie side are keen to sign a left-sided midfielder and have given Holmes the chance to prove he fits the bill.
