Fuller given all-clear

RENOWNED American knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman has given Preston's Jamaican international striker Ricardo Fuller the thumbs up.

The former Hearts ace underwent a knee operation in January, after damaging his cruciate ligaments back in November.

North End's physio Andrew Balderston revealed the visit to the specialist was a success and now the ace is ready to resume full training.

"Ricardo saw Dr Steadman on Monday and he seems very, very pleased with Ricardo," said Balderston to the club's official website.

"He said that his knee is perfect, those were his exact words."

Fuller is now expected to link-up with his international colleagues in Jamaica in a bid to regain match fitness and practice.

The 23-year-old had been in excellent form for The Lilywhites prior to the injury, scoring 11 goals in just 19 starts.

"We sat Ricardo down with our fitness trainer, we had a very long chat about the demands we expect him to put on himself over the next month because he is going back to Jamaica and then he is going with the Jamaican national squad for a month's intensive training," added Balderston.

"We stress to Ricardo that he is going to work not on holiday.

"If he works half as hard as he does over here then he will come back in good shape.

"Then it will be all systems go for when he returns on July 9."
