Preston eye new Day deal

Preston North End are looking to tie up a long term deal for QPR keeper Chris Day.

Preston North End are looking to tie up a long term deal for QPR keeper Chris Day.

The 29-year-old custodian has just completed a one-month loan spell at Deepdale, and has sufficiently impressed boss Billy Davies with his six appearances for the play-off contenders.

Day was recruited after injuries to Andrew Lonergan and Gavin Ward, and Davies is convinced that the player is keen to move to The Championship's fourth placed side.

The Preston boss will be hoping to thrash out a deal before the transfer deadline on Thursday.

"Hopefully something can be sorted out in the next day or two," Davies told the club's official website.

"Chris indicated that he would like to continue at Preston North End and we are trying to sort out a deal to keep him here on a longer basis.

"All I can do now is leave it in the hands of the men upstairs and see what happens.

"If nothing materialises then we would have to consider all other options in that position and that may mean that we have to look elsewhere."
