Hill blow for North End

Preston will be without defender Matt Hill for three weeks because of a thigh injury.

Preston's injury problems have increased with the news that defender Matt Hill will be out of action for around three weeks.

The former Bristol City full back was a late withdrawal from last Saturday's 2-1 FA Cup third round victory over Crewe because of a thigh injury.

North End manager Billy Davies is already without midfielders Brian O'Neil, Paul McKenna and Adam Nowland through injury.

Hill's absence is likely to mean that Callum Davidson will revert to the left back role, with new signing Simon Whaley set for an early-anticipated first team debut.

Despite their recent injury troubles, Preston are unbeaten in their last 17 league and cup matches.
