Millers loan Hibbert

Rotherham United have landed Preston North End striker Dave Hibbert on loan.

Rotherham United boss Alan Knill has boosted his striking ranks with the loan signing of Preston North End's Dave Hibbert.

The former Port Vale hit-man arrives at Millmoor on a six-month loan deal and should provide competition for Delroy Facey and Will Hoskins in the Rotherham striking department.

Lilywhites boss Paul Simpson was more than happy to let Hibbert join the South Yorkshire club for the first half of the coming season, as the player made just 13 appearances for Preston last term.

Hibbert is the seventh new signing to join The Millers this summer, with Knill still considering the idea of keeping trialists Eugen Bopp and Martin Woods.

Bopp is looking for a new club after being released by League One rivals Nottingham Forest at the end of last season, having failed to impress Championship side Ipswich Town during a trial spell this summer.

Midfielder Woods is also trying to earn a deal with Rotherham after his release from Sunderland back in May.

One new signing set to miss Saturday's season start with The Millers is midfielder Justin Cochrane, with the former Crewe Alexandra man out for three weeks with a knee cartilage problem.
