Nugent drafted in by England

Preston striker David Nugent has been called into the England squad.

Preston striker David Nugent has been called into the England squad for this week's Euro 2008 double-header.

Nugent has been promoted from the Under 21 squad to replace the injured Darren Bent.

Bent has been forced to withdraw from the squad for the games with Israel and Andorra because of a knee injury.

Charlton boss Alan Pardew revealed Bent was not 100 per cent fit to play for England and he has now withdrawn from the squad.

Nugent joins Gareth Barry in being called up to the squad after missing out on the original 23-man squad.
