HUGHES IN BAGGIES PLEDGE

LEE HUGHES has warned West Brom fans to ignore the expected rush of transfer speculation concerning his future at the club, particularly if The Baggies are relegated to Division Two.

The former Kidderminster forward will miss the vital last week of the season, following a broken leg suffered last month, but he is hopeful that his team-mates will ensure there will be First Division football at the Hawthorns next season.

"If the speculation doesn`t come from me or the club, it`s not worth listening to," he told West Brom`s official website. "That`s why I never buy a paper. I don`t read papers, because you can never believe what they say, anyway.

"I`ve been linked with that many clubs, and I`ve been going virtually every week most of the time. But I just don`t listen to it. I can`t see anything going on this summer, but it`s up to the club really."

Gary Megson`s side are level on points with Walsall, but their superior goal difference could be enough to avoid relegation, come the close of play on Sunday afternoon.
