Hibs deny Baggies rumours

Hibernian insist West Brom have not lodged a bid for Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson.

Hibernian insist West Bromwich Albion have not lodged a bid for Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson.

Reports have claimed that former Hibs boss Tony Mowbray wants to be reunited with the midfield duo at The Hawthorns.

A joint £4.5million bid was rumoured to be in the offing, but Hibs have moved quickly to deny the latest speculation.

While acknowledging West Brom have been in contact, the SPL club dismissed reports of a bid for Brown (pictured) and Thomson.

"There has been no bid of £4.5million from West Brom," said a Hibs spokesman.

"In fact, there has been no firm bid at all from West Brom.

"And finally the board of Hibs is not discussing anything in relation to this.

"West Brom have been in touch, we are not denying that. There has been contact, but that is as far as it has gone."

Mowbray's successor at Easter Road, John Collins, has expressed his confidence that Brown and Thomson will not be leaving in January.
