Gera reveals Baggies doubts

West Brom's Zoltan Gera has restated his aim to play in the Premier League.

West Brom midfielder Zoltan Gera has restated his aim to play in the Premier League.

The Hungarian international had a transfer request rejected 12 months ago following West Brom's relegation to the Championship.

Gera helped The Baggies reach the final of the play-offs but defeat to Derby means he will have to wait to experience top-flight football again.

But Gera, who is entering the final year of his contract, has told his homeland press that he is unsure whether he will spend another season in the Championship.

"It wasn't the best season of my career," Gera told origo.hu.

"I didn't want to stay because I wanted to move up to the Premiership as soon as possible.

"I finished the year with West Brom but then we couldn't win promotion so I have to say it wasn't a successful year for me.

"I have proved in the past that I can play at Premiership level and my aim is to play there again.

"I'm sure that I can play better than I did this year - and I hope I can prove it in the following season."
