Gousse wings in for Wolves

Wolves are aiming to hijack Ipswich Town's move for Nicolas Gousse after the French striker joined Dave Jones' side on trial.

Gousse only linked up with Ipswich earlier this week with a view to a permanent move after being told he can leave his current club Guingamp.

But the 28-year-old swiftly headed off to Ipswich's Championship rivals Wolves to feature in Tuesday's friendly against Mansfield Town.

He is expected to join fellow trialist Youl Mawene in playing for Wolves again in Friday's meeting with Manchester City.

Molineux boss Dave Jones admits he has yet to properly assess the former Rennes and Troyes forward and is keen to have a second look.

"Nicolas raced over from Ipswich to take part in the game and we only met him in the dressing room shortly before the game," said Jones.

"When he came on he put himself about and could have scored on two or three occasions.

"Hopefully, like Youl, we will take a further look at him on Friday."
