Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has backed midfielder Seyi George Olofinjana to hit double figures this season.The Nigerian grabbed the winner for Wolves in their 2-0 triumph over Stoke on Saturday after Leon Clarke had earlier given the home side the lead.
"I sat down with Olofinjana for a chat before the game and because he is a very conscientious player, he asked me what I thought he could be doing better," said McCarthy.
"I told him with his power and size he should be chipping in with 10 goals per season and even at half-time I told him if he got into the Stoke penalty box they would not be able to deal with him.
"He did that in the second half and it is terrific for him he is off the mark."
McCarthy also had words of encouragement for Clarke.
"Leon Clarke did really well but there were one or two things he did not go for in the second half," he revealed.
"He started to get the bird from the fans but what they did not realise he has got a tight hamstring.
"He did not want to tell me about it, such is his desire to play, but I recognised it and that is why I brought him off."
Stoke manager Tony Pulis admits he is worried about his side's poor form which has seen them pick up just eight points from nine games.
"Of course I am concerned, we need a good win," he said.
"There's a lack of confidence at the moment and at times like this, 90 percent of the job revolves around players maintaining confidence and getting the breaks.
"We've produced good performances but not got the results we have deserved and that is where we maybe need a lucky break or two.
"We are disappointed to have only won one in nine but we have drawn five of those and I know we will be all right when we get everybody fit."
