Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jackie McNamara has spoken of his frustration at his latest injury setback.The 32-year-old has been sidelined since July with a hip problem but had hoped to make his long-awaited return this weekend against Colchester.
However, the former Celtic captain will now sit out the visit of The U's following a minor setback in training in the build up to the game.
"This last week or so has been incredibly frustrating for me," McNamara told the Express & Star.
"I just want to be playing now - that's what I came here to do. I've been doing a lot of work with the physio building the hip up and making sure it's okay.
"It is not anything serious and I am just about there now. I've had a scan and it shows the hip is fine, although there was a bit of fluid which has prevented me from playing."
McNamara had pencilled in the local derby against West Brom as a game he was hoping to feature in.
He now admits he is unlikely to play until the end of the month and is targeting his first Championship appearance of the season in the game against Sheffield Wednesday.
McNamara added: "Everyone has been talking to me about the West Brom game but I think that might be too soon.
"The next one I'm looking at is the friendly on October 25 against Dunkirk.
"That's the one I'll be looking to play in foremost and then hopefully I'll be back for the league game after that."
