Saints confirm double signing

SOUTHAMPTON have confirmed the signings of youngsters Tim Sparv and Feliciano Prudencio - both of which were reported first on planetfootball.com.

We brought you news last month of The Saints deal for Sparv and then news of Prudencio's arrival was also broke on planetfootball.

Attacking midfielder Prudencio, 16, has arrived from Portuguese outfit Vitoria Setubal and was spotted by chief scout Terry Cooper.

"At this age, you are only talking about potential, but he has got everything in his locker to become a really good player," Cooper said.

"He can go box to box, uses his head well in both boxes, and he has got good technical ability."

16-year-old Sparv - another midfielder - signed a three-and-a-half year deal with Gordon Strachan's side last month.

Malcolm Elias, the head of recruitment for the academy, confirmed to the side's official website of his arrival: "He is an excellent passer of the ball with outstanding awareness and good technique, and overall, he is a very exciting prospect."

Both players will be joining the Saints' academy system upon their arrival in England.
