Commons wants contract conclusion

Stoke City winger Kris Commons has revealed his desire to conclude a new deal with the Division One club.

The 20-year-old has been on the fringes of Tony Pulis's first team squad this season, but he celebrated his first Potters start in four months with a stunning winner against Midlands rivals Coventry City on Saturday.

His current contract expires at the season's end and both sides have been locked in talks for some time over a new deal.

However, with no agreement being reached as yet, Commons may be free to move on from The Britannia Stadium for nothing in the summer.

Despite the situation, Commons says he is waiting for Stoke to come back to him with a suitable offer, claiming he needs first team action to earn an England Under-21 call-up.

"I'm still waiting for Stoke to come back to me," said Commons.

"I have ambition and if I'm not starting games, I won't get a chance of playing for the England Under-21's.

"But I want to make it clear that I love it here and want to stay."

Meanwhile, Stoke's youth academy director Keith Leighton and youth team coch Dave Kevan are to leave their posts at the season's end.
