Potters trial Pole

Stoke City have handed Poland international Marcin Wasilewski a trial this week.

Stoke City have handed Poland international defender Marcin Wasilewski a trial this week.

According to the player's club Lech Poznan, Wasilewski travelled to the Potteries on Monday in a bid to impress Stoke boss Tony Pulis.

The 26-year-old will spend the current week with the Championship club, while Stoke assess Wasilewski's abilities during that time.

Lech Poznan are seemingly prepared to let the defender move on in the January transfer window, should they receive a good offer for the player.

Wasilewski comes with a good pedigree, having played for Poland in last week's Euro 2008 qualifying win in Belgium.
