Grant a fan of Cureton

Norwich boss Peter Grant says Colchester striker Jamie Cureton is in his thinking.

Norwich City manager Peter Grant admits Colchester United striker Jamie Cureton is in his thinking.

Cureton has asked to leave Colchester and has revealed his preference to return to Norwich in the summer.

Grant, who has offered £2million for Scunthorpe United hit-man Billy Sharp, was unaware of Cureton's wish to quit Layer Road.

But while not confirming a bid for the 31-year-old will be lodged, Grant is keen on someone of the calibre of last season's top scorer in the Championship.

"For sure," Grant told the Pink'Un when asked if Cureton is in his thoughts.

"There's no doubt that he's a top-quality player - one that's obviously very close in my way of thinking.

"I always liked him when I played against him after coming to England. He is one of those guys you always have to be careful of.

"I didn't realise he had asked for a move because I had been away.

"I knew he was under contract to Colchester, which means they will put a certain value on him."
