Owls in talks with Burton

Sheffield Wednesday have started talks to extend the contract of striker Deon Burton.

Sheffield Wednesday have started talks to extend the contract of in-form striker Deon Burton.

The 30-year-old is the third Owls player to be offered the chance to stay at Hillsborough next season.

Earlier this week, Wednesday boss Brian Laws told skysports.com that captain Lee Bullen had been offered a one-year extension.

Steven MacLean is also in line for fresh terms, while the club have confirmed that discussions are also underway with Burton.

The experienced forward joined The Owls from Rotherham United in January 2006 and has struck 12 goals this season.

He has scored four times in his last five appearances and must now decide whether to extend his contract, which expires in the summer.
