Palace pair extend deals

Crystal Palace midfielders Tom Soares and Ben Watson have signed new contracts.

Crystal Palace midfielders Tom Soares and Ben Watson have signed new contracts with the Championship club.

The duo, who are in Peter Taylor's England Under-21 squad to face Moldova Under-21s at Portman Road on Tuesday evening, have committed their futures to The Eagles.

Soares (pictured) sees his deal extended until 2010, while Watson remains with the Selhurst Park club until 2009 - despite garnering interest from Premiership sides Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic this summer.

The news comes as young striker Charlie Sheringham put pen-to-paper on the two-year Palace contract he was offered last month.

The 18-year-old - son of West Ham United veteran goalscorer Teddy Sheringham - joined The Eagles this summer following his release from Championship rivals Ipswich Town.
