Reuser wants to leave Town

Ipswich Town midfielder Martijn Reuser says that he wants to leave the club even if they achieve promotion to The Premiership as he is sick of being a substitute.

The Dutchman came off the bench on Saturday to turn the game for Town, as he scored a spectacular free kick and then set up Darren Bent as Joe Royle's men came from behind to beat Gillingham 2-1.

That three points was vital for their play-off chase, but despite being the star of the show Reuser is anticipating being dropped back to the bench for the start of their next match.

Reuser is unhappy with continually being asked to come off the bench and says that he wants to leave in the summer - even if Royle's men are promoted.

"I'm looking for a new club," said Reuser.

"The manager Joe Royle has made it clear I do not figure in his plans. I want regular football and that means playing the full 90 minutes.

"Several times this year I have been asked to come off the bench and prove myself and I feel I have done that.

"But the boss feels that I am better used changing the game halfway through rather than from the start.

"I've got one year left on my contract but I hope to get a summer transfer. Even if we go up, I'd rather be playing the whole match in Division One than be a substitute in The Premiership."
