Latics snubbed by Town youth

Ipswich Town teenager Dean Bowditch has rejected a move to Oldham Athletic.

Ipswich Town teenager Dean Bowditch has rejected a move to Oldham Athletic.

The struggling League One club were keen to bring the striker to Boundary Park on a loan basis.

But, after Ipswich accepted Oldham's proposal, the 18-year-old snubbed the chance of regular football, with The Latics claiming the forward did not want to play in League One.

New Latics boss Ronnie Moore has now confirmed he will look elsewhere as he aims to pep up his attack in a bid to avoid relegation.

"I will be making a lot of calls to try to bring somebody in," Moore told the club's official website.

"We need to do something about it and quickly."

Bowditch has scored three goals for Ipswich this season, but has largely been employed in a substitute's role by Town boss Joe Royle.

He signed a contract until 2008 in January, but he appears unwilling to move out of The Championship to secure some regular first team action.
