Norwich 1 Coventry 1

Norwich missed another chance to go top of the First Division as they were held by a battling Coventry side at Carrow Road.

Visiting manager Gary McAllister earned his team a point with a second half penalty after Craig Fleming was adjudged to have handled the former Liverpool midfielder's cross.

Nigel Worthington's men led at half time through Ian Henderson's close range finish after a knock-down from Peter Crouch, but in the end were fortunate to hold on after skipper Malky Mackay was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Robert Green produced a superb save to deny Youssef Safri's long-range effort and then saved well from a Dele Adebola header as Coventry pushed for a winner.

Paul McVeigh went closest for 10-man Norwich towards the end, but it was the visitors who looked more likely to snatch a winner, with McAllister, Julian Joachim and Adebola all coming close.
