Marney loan cut short

Dean Marney's season long loan at Norwich has been ended due to injury.

Dean Marney's season-long loan at Norwich City has been cut short because of an Achilles tendon injury.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who made 14 appearances for The Canaries, picked up the injury in late October, but it has now been agreed that he should return to Tottenham as he may be sidelined for a number of months.

"It's very disappointing. I was hoping to come back for part of the season but the injury is going to keep me out for longer than originally thought," Marney said.

"The specialist has said it's more likely to be four months than three but you can never tell. You can't rush these things."

Marney was also keen to stress how much he had enjoyed his time at Carrow Road.

"It's been quality. Everyone has been great - the gaffer's been great, so have all the lads. And the fans have been excellent." he said

Norwich boss Nigel Worthington was full of praise for Marney and Tottenham.

"We thank Dean and we thank Tottenham for their co-operation," said Worthington.

"Dean has been a great professional to work with and a great ambassador to Tottenham Hotspur."
