Carey heading home

Louis Carey will re-sign with Bristol City on Monday after resolving a late hitch.

Louis Carey will re-sign with League One club Bristol City on Monday after resolving a contractual matter with Coventry City.

The 28-year-old, who left The Robins to join Coventry on a free transfer back in the summer, passed a medical on Thursday and will pen a two-and-a-half year deal with his old club.

Carey's return to Ashton Gate had been put on hold after a late hitch, but the defender will re-join the West Country outfit next week.

Robins player-manager Brian Tinnion was pleased the matter regarding Carey's move back had been resolved.

"After the way we defended [against Chestefield], I am over the moon that Louis is coming back," Tinnion told the club's official website.

"I'm delighted to be getting a player of his quality on a free transfer.

"It was frustrating that we couldn't tie things up on Thursday, but he should now get a full week of training with us ahead of the Hull City game."

The news comes as Tinnion expressed his displeasure with his side's display in their Friday night defeat to Chesterfield.

City came from two-goals down to level matters in the second half against The Spireites, but a late Mark Hudson strike gave Roy McFarland's side a well-deserved 3-2 away win.

"Life is too easy for some of the players at this club," Tinnion added.

"We virtually wipe their backsides for them and it's the ones who come in from outside who appreciate that because they aren't used to it.

"There will be harsh words at training on Monday and a week of hard work ahead of the tough game at Hull next weekend."
