Hull City manager Peter Taylor has lamented the loss of centre back Danny Coles.Hull City manager Peter Taylor has lamented the loss of centre back Danny Coles for the season.
The former Bristol City defender has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign following a visit to a knee specialist this week.
The 23-year-old needed to be stretchered off during Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Luton Town after landing awkwardly in a challenge with Hatters striker Warren Feeney.
Taylor had hoped his injury was not serious but after visiting the specialist, Coles has been told he will be sidelined for the next nine months.
The England Under-21 boss revealed his frustration at losing one of his more consistent performers in Coles.
"It's been a crazy start to the new season," Taylor told skysports.com.
"I think we've had nine players injured and six or seven of those are out for a long time. Danny Coles is the latest.
"He and Ian Ashbee have been our most consistent players and both are out now until next season, which is amazing."
Taylor added his displeasure at the current transfer window system for not allowing him to address his squad's current injury crisis.
"I've got to say, I'm really against the transfer window because we've been hit by injuries to so many defenders," declared Taylor.
"We could do with going into the transfer market again, which of course is impossible, so we have to think about loans."
