Forest agree Holt deal

Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal to land Rochdale striker Grant Holt.

Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal to land Rochdale striker Grant Holt in a £300,000 move.

The free-scoring former Sheffield Wednesday hit-man has continued last season's fine return of 24 goals by bagging 15 already this term.

Holt has proven himself to be one of League Two's hottest properties over the past couple of campaigns, with a plethora of scouts having been present at Spotland in recent weeks.

The 24-year-old has now agreed personal terms with Forest boss Gary Megson and put pen-to-paper on a deal that will keep at the City Ground until 2009.

Holt, who bagged an impressive 43 goals in 83 appearances for Rochdale, will make his debut at the weekend against Oldham.

Forest have been busy in the January transfer window, having already completed the signing of Walsall defender Julian Bennett for an undisclosed fee.
