Boateng makes peace with Barmby

MIDDLESBROUGH midfielder George Boateng has claimed that 'offensive remarks' aimed at him by Nick Barmby prompted the angry scenes at the end of Saturday`s game, but the Dutchman has forgiven the Leeds man.

Tempers were running high at the end of Saturday`s 2-2 draw, as both teams had players sent off for innocuous incidents.

Boateng claims he was talking to Lee Bowyer about the incident that led to Franck Queudrue seeing red when Barmby came over, barged into him and launched a torrent of verbal abuse.

The Boro man was seen on camera spitting, he says it was on the floor but it would appear that Barmby thought it was in his direction.

This sparked a nasty confrontation which saw a number of Boro players shepherding Boateng down the tunnel, as he attempted to confront Barmby.

The Football Association are sure to look into the incident, but Boateng continued by revealing he met Barmby after the game and said the pair settled their differences amicably.
