Medina admits Kewell contact

BARCELONA'S prospective new president Jordi Medina has admitted that he has made contact with Leeds United star Harry Kewell.

With the club's elections due next month, every candidate has been sounding out who they would bring to the club - should they be elected.

Although Kewell is in talks with The Whites over a new deal, the ace would almost certainly be sold should the negotiations collapse.

A number of sides have been linked with a move for the Australian international recently, including Premiership champions Manchester United.

Medina confirmed he is interested in bringing four players to Camp Nou, including Ajax pair Joe Didulica and John O'Brien and Lazio's Jaap Stam along with Kewell.

"I have met with Didulica and we have spoken with O'Brien, both of Ajax, and with Stam, the Lazio defender and also with Kewell, from Leeds," said Medina.

Should Leeds fail to agree a new contract with the 24-year-old, a fee in the region of £8 million has been speculated to prize the Sydney-born ace away from Elland Road.

Although Didulica has been outlined as a possible arrival at Barca this summer, the Catalan giants could struggle to land the Aussie ace as he has already agreed to join Austria Vienna.
