O'Connor joined from Ilkeston after impressing Brian Laws during a trial spell but just three substitute appearancs have followed and the 19-year-old has been let go.
"We felt he had a little bit of something, but we have decided, having got to know more about his character, that he falls short of what we require. That is why we are letting him go," Laws told the club website.
"When a player is on trial, you expect them to give their right arm to impress.
"We didn't feel we got the desire needed for us to keep him at the club, so we relieved him of any responsibility."
