FA Cup round-up

MK Dons and Scunthorpe both booked their places in the FA Cup third round.

Milton Keynes Dons and Scunthorpe United both booked their places in the FA Cup third round after wins on Friday evening.

The MK Dons faced a tough looking trip to non-league Cambridge City, but they managed to avoid a giant-killing and disposed of the Nationwide South outfit.

The only goal at Milton Road came after just six minutes when Allan Smart headed home Nicky Rizzo's cross.

League Two Scunthorpe progressed after a 2-0 victory over financially stricken Wrexham at Glanford Park.

The Red Dragons - who have just gone into administration - were looking for a morale boosting win, but it was not to be as they succumbed to opposition from a division below.

Peter Beagrie crossed for Lee Ridley (pictured) to open the scoring after 14 minutes and the second came just before the hour when Matthew Sparrow picked up a rebound after Matthew Baker parried Paul Hayes's shot.
