League One Round-Up

Nottingham Forest moved seven points clear, as Yeovil Town defeated Bristol City.

Nottingham Forest moved seven points clear at the top of League One, as Yeovil Town jumped into second courtesy of a derby win over Bristol City.

Colin Calderwood's Forest side have already opened up an eight-point gap on the play-off positions, with their 11th victory of the season coming in a 2-0 home win over Brentford.

Kris Commons was the match winner, as his brace (10, 37) left The Bees hovering just one point above the relegation zone.

Yeovil are now second following a dramatic 2-1 win over local rivals Bristol City, with all the goals arriving in the last 12 minutes after both Louis Carey and Scott Guyett had been sent off to leave it as ten versus ten.

The Glovers took the lead on 78 minutes courtesy of an Arron Davies strike, and Wayne Gray doubled their advantage in injury time before City hit back through a Phil Jevons penalty - with the striker scoring against his former club.

Scunthorpe United are now equal third with The Robins on 29 points after drawing 1-1 away at Huddersfield Town.

The Iron could have taken all three points when Matthew Sparrow struck on 55 minutes, but Andy Booth rescued a point for the West Yorkshire side with a goal four minutes from time.

Oldham Athletic moved to within a point of the play-off places after beating Cheltenham Town 2-1 with goals from Paul Warne (23) and Gary McDonald (41), but The Latics missed out on a clean sheet when Kayode Odejayi scored in injury time.

Carlisle United are now two points behind Oldham after drawing 1-1 with Rotherham United, and The Cumbrians had to rely on a goal from Kevin Gray (21) to claim a share of the spoils after Delroy Facey's opener (21).

Brighton & Hove Albion moved into the top half of the table, as they edged a five-goal thriller against Bradford in what was the game of the day in League One.

The Seagulls soared into a two-goal lead when Dean Hammond scored from the penalty spot (48) to build on Alex Revell's opener (13).

When The Bantams showed great spirit to bounce back through another penalty from Dean Windass (56) and a strike from Steven Schumacher (80), it seemed as though they had done enough for a draw, but on-loan Dean Bowditch had the final say, as he scored with a minute to go for the South Coast side.

Gillingham also triumphed in a late conclusion, as they somehow managed to defeat Chesterfield 2-1.

The visitors had taken the lead through Mark Hughes (39), but injury time strikes from Gary Mulligan and Dean McDonald turned the game on its head.

Another team who left it late were Crewe Alexandra, as they defeated Port Vale 2-1 at Gresty Road.

After George Abbey (36) replied quickly to Nicky Maynard's goal (32), the game looked destined to be a stalemate. However, Dario Gradi's men were awarded a penalty in injury time and Luke Rodgers did not pass up the chance to seal a dramatic win.

Northampton Town and Blackpool shared a 1-1 draw at The Sixfields Stadium, with Eoin Jess (62) replying to Andy Morrell (20) for The Cobblers, whilst the game between Doncaster Rovers and Leyton Orient ended in a 0-0 draw.
