Amankwaah ends Whaddon Road spell

Kevin Amankwaah has ended his loan spell with Division Three side Cheltenham Town and returned to parent club Bristol City.

The young defender spent two months on loan at Whaddon Road but played his last match for the Gloucestershire-based side on Saturday, when Cheltenham went down to a 2-0 home defeat to Rochdale.

It was a match which saw Bobby Gould resign as Cheltenham manager and now Amankwaah has left the club after completing his loan deal.

Amankwaah saw plenty of first team action at Cheltenham and Bristol City boss Danny Wilson was pleased the defender made the most of his time there.

"The only reason we allowed Kevin to go there was to benefit him in terms of first team football at a time when he wasn't going to get into our side," Wilson told Bristol City's official website.
