Scott Brown has joined Cheltenham, with Brian Wilson moving to Bristol City.
Cheltenham Town have completed the signing of Scott Brown from Bristol City, with Brian Wilson moving in the opposite direction.Skysports.com revealed on Thursday that Brown had been offered to Cheltenham in exchange for Wilson, and the two clubs have now finalised the details.
Wilson has joined Bristol City for an undisclosed fee, while Brown moves to Cheltenham on an emergency loan basis, with a view to a permanent transfer.
Cheltenham boss John Ward is thrilled to have signed Brown, but also paid tribute to the departing Wilson.
"I've been delighted to work with Brian over the last three years," Ward told the club's official website.
"His attitude and ability has been exceptional and he has been a joy to work with. I can only wish him well in his career and further development as a player.
"Scott Brown is a player I have known about for two or three years now.
"He is a very busy, energetic footballer with a desire to get on and improve.
"Scott can play wide on either side of midfield or through the middle so he will give us more options in that central area."
Wilson will go straight into Bristol City's squad to face Tranmere on Saturday, while Brown is available for Cheltenham's League One clash with Huddersfield.
Meanwhile, Craig Reid will also be in the Cheltenham squad to play Huddersfield after signing a one-month contract at Whaddon Road.
The former Coventry City trainee has been on trial with Cheltenham this week and has done enough to earn a short-term deal.
"Craig is a player we saw in Coventry's reserves last season so we knew something about what he could do when he came to us," said Ward.
"This contract will give both Craig and ourselves the chance to see if we would like to extend the arrangement further."
