Gerrard sent home

Nottingham Forest have sent Paul Gerrard home from the club's tour of Denmark.

Nottingham Forest have sent Paul Gerrard home from the club's tour of Denmark.

The shot-stopper was complaining of discomfort in his knee and manager Gary Megson is taking no risks with the 32-year-old.

Megson is hopeful the injury is not serious enough to rule the former Everton keeper out of the club's start to the new season.

"Paul has been complaining of discomfort in one of his knees," explained Megson to the club's official website.

"We're hoping it won't prove to be too serious but felt the best course of action was to get him back to England for a scan."

Gerrard's absence could hand trialist Rune Pedersen another chance to impress after he kept a clean sheet in Forest's goalless draw against Silkeborg.
