Forest reject Gerrard request

Nottingham Forest have turned down Paul Gerrard's request for a transfer.

Nottingham Forest have turned down Paul Gerrard's request for a transfer from the League One club.

The former Oldham Athletic and Everton custodian is thought to be upset at losing the number one jersey to summer signing Rune Pedersen.

The Danish keeper has started Forest's first three matches of the new season and that seems to have prompted Gerrard to request a transfer.

With only two senior goalkeepers in their ranks, Forest have rejected Gerrard's request to leave The City Ground before the end of the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Forest's head groundsman Steve Welch has been appointed to the same role with the new Wembley Stadium.

Welch was chosen from 50 applicants to be in charge of maintaining the playing surface of England's new-look national stadium.

He will take up his new role in October.
