Hearts agree fee for midfielder

Graham Rix is closing in on his first signing as head coach of Hearts.

Graham Rix is closing in on his first signing as head coach of Hearts after the Tynecastle club agreed a fee for Yeovil midfielder Lee Johnson.

The 24-year-old will now travel to Edinburgh to open talks with the SPL side and Yeovil's manager Steve Thompson believes it may prove an opportunity too good to turn down for Johnson.

"Naturally I am disappointed to lose a player of Lee's ability," Thompson told Yeovil's official website.

"But the move, if completed, is a fabulous opportunity for Lee to advance his career in Scotland.

"Hearts are currently second in the SPL and have a tremendous chance of playing in the Champions League, and Lee is very keen to test himself at the highest level."

Johnson is the son of former Yeovil manager Gary, who left Huish Park to take charge of strugglers Bristol City earlier this season.
