Latics seal Kalala deal

Oldham Athletic have completed the signing of Yeovil midfielder JP Kalala.

Oldham Athletic have completed the second signing at Boundary Park in as many days with the capture of JP Kalala.

The 25-year-old midfielder moves to Oldham on a two-year deal, despite Yeovil being keen to retain his services, following a campaign in which Kalala more than played his part for the beaten League One play-off finalists.

Kalala, who prefers to operate in a defensive role, has elected to make the switch to Oldham after productive talks with Latics boss John Sheridan.

The Democratic Republic of Congo international first moved to England from Nice in 2005, where he impressed, before following Russell Slade to Huish Park.

Oldham bolstered their attacking ranks on Wednesday with the signing of Craig Davies from Verona, with top goalscorer Chris Porter's future still far from certain.

Meanwhile, reports in Scotland claim St Mirren are all set to announce the signing of Oldham defender Will Haining.

The Scottish stopper has been offered a new deal at Oldham, but it is also believed that he has been informed that he will not start the season as first choice, should he elect to stay.
