Cheeky blow for Trundle

Swansea City striker Lee Trundle's fine day in scoring the winning goal in Saturday's FA Cup win over Preston North End was blighted by a suspected broken cheekbone.

The Liverpool-born hit-man continued his run of scoring in every round of the competition when he netted the winner against The Lilywhites at Vetch Field.

But his rewarding day was dampened by a broken cheekbone he suffered in the first half of the Preston clash.

The Swans' medical staff had recommended that Trundle not continue playing with the injury during the break but he stayed on and eventually scored the South Wales club's dramatic winner.

Trundle had an operation to repair the cheekbone injury on Monday and is expected to be out of action for around two to three weeks.

Despite the injury, the 27-year-old did reveal his desire to draw Premiership giants Liverpool in the next round.

An Everton supporter, Trundle would love the chance to knock out The Toffees' arch-rivals, should Swansea be given the chance.

"I'd like to get Liverpool in the next round," Trundle told Sky Sports News.

"I'm an Everton fan and I don't want to knock them out."
