Swans snap up Sancho

Brent Sancho has left Gillingham and signed for Swansea on a loan deal.

Brent Sancho has left Gillingham and signed for Swansea on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

The 28-year-old Trinidad & Tobago international has fallen out of favour at The Priestfield Stadium and the move to The Gills' League One rivals will give Sancho much-needed playing time ahead of the World Cup.

Sancho, who joined the Kent club from Dundee last summer, fell out with his Priestfield paymasters after insisting on joining up with his international team-mates despite major doubts over his fitness.

The loss of Sancho should give manager Ronnie Jepson extra room to manoeuvre in the transfer market.

Sancho has made 13 appearances for The Gills this season but now joins up with The Swans in time for a tilt at the play-offs.
