Posh agree Knight fee

Peterborough have agreed a fee for Swansea's transfer-listed striker Leon Knight.

Peterborough United have agreed a fee for Swansea City's transfer-listed striker Leon Knight.

The 24-year-old was made available by The Swans earlier this month, despite scoring 15 goals in 20 League One starts since joining from Brighton & Hove Albion in January.

Northampton Town are also keen on the hot shot, but Posh director of football Barry Fry is hoping to tempt Knight to London Road.

"I can confirm that I have had several discussions with Kenny Jackett at Swansea City and we have agreed a fee," Fry told the club's official website.

"I have spoken to Leon's agent, but he needs more time to consider our offer.

"Leon was transfer listed a few weeks ago and Keith Alexander immediately identified him as a player that he can build a team around.

"He believes Leon can become an influential player as we attempt to gain promotion. Leon's goalscoring record is fantastic."

Whichever club Knight chooses, it is thought he will initially join on loan before moving permanently when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
