Crewe move for Moses

CREWE ALEXANDRA are thought to be in talks with Huddersfield Town defender Adie Moses after missing out on Chris Willmott.

Railwaymen boss Dario Gradi is chasing a stopper after losing the services of Dave Walton to Derby County.

Moses is available on a free transfer after his contract with Huddersfield expired although The Terriers have offered the 28-year-old a one-year extension.

But Crewe are aiming to offer Moses a return to First Division football and the former Barnsley defender held talks with Gradi on Wednesday.

Gradi has turned his attentions to Moses after previous target Willmott opted to sign for Third Division side Northampton Town.

The Alex chief admitted the money The Cobblers had to spend thwarted any ambitions he had of luring Willmott to Gresty Road.

"We would have signed Chris but we couldn't offer what Northampton were offering," said Gradi.

"I know they have money at the moment as they are signing players for transfer fees.

"There will always be the odd team who can afford to do that."
