Injury blow for Grant

Tony Grant's hopes of earning a move to Crewe have been hit by injury.

Tony Grant's hopes of earning a move to Crewe in January have been hit after he broke an ankle playing for the club's reserves.

The 30-year-old has been training with Alex since his departure from Bristol City and was informed he would be handed a contract when the transfer window opens in January.

Grant, who could not join the club upon his departure from The Robins due to the new transfer regulations, had been keeping his fitness levels up by playing for Crewe's reserves.

It was in a reserve encounter against Coventry that the midfielder picked up the injury.

Grant now faces a race against time to prove his fitness before the transfer window closes at the end of January.

Crewe, meanwhile, have given Lee Bell permission to remain on loan at Burton Albion for a further month.
