Lowndes hopes for Vale deal

Nathan Lowndes is hoping he will be offered a contract to stay at Port Vale next season.

Nathan Lowndes is hoping he will be offered a contract to stay at Port Vale next season.

The striker's current deal expires in the summer and he has struggled to establish himself at Vale Park since joining from Plymouth in November 2004.

Injuries have restricted the 29-year-old's impact for the League One club and he has yet to score in 11 appearances this season, although he has started just one game.

He is aware he may not be handed a new deal by Vale boss Martin Foyle, but remains keen to prove himself with the Potteries club.

"My future is out of my hands, it is in the hands of the manager and chairman," Lowndes told The Sentinel.

"The disappointing thing is I have been injured for a significant part of the season, which almost plays your hand for you.

"If nothing is forthcoming then obviously I will have to move on. Hopefully, I'll stay fit and get another club.

"But, at the moment, I am looking forward to playing as well as I can for Port Vale and hopefully securing something here."
