Keeper blow for Cobblers

Northampton goalkeeper Lee Harper has been ruled out for six weeks.

Northampton Town are looking for a new goalkeeper after first choice Lee Harper was ruled out for six weeks with a broken hand.

Harper was injured during The Cobblers' 2-0 defeat at Scunthorpe United on Monday and will be out of action for over a month.

X-rays showed the 32-year-old had broken a bone in his hand and it could be six weeks before he is available again for the League Two side.

Cobblers boss Colin Calderwood only has Mark Bunn as the other keeper on his books and he admits he will have to delve in to the loan market.

"We can't really rely on just one goalkeeper for the next six weeks," Calderwood told the club's official website.

"Mark is a touch unlucky but we know that clubs will only let goalkeepers out on loan if they are going to play for us.

"We have someone in mind and we are following up a few options.

"We will have a new keeper on board before Sunday's game at Mansfield."
