Agogo future in doubt

Bristol Rovers striker Junior Agogo admits that his future is still far from finalised.

Bristol Rovers striker Junior Agogo admits that his future is still far from finalised.

The former Sheffield Wednesday marksman enjoyed an excellent campaign last term, which prompted talk of several bids for his services.

Mansfield Town are long-term admirers, whilst Southampton were rumoured to have also been monitoring his progress.

Rovers boss Ian Atkins is keen to bring in 23-year-old striker Marc Richards - who recently turned down a deal at Northampton - but is aware of the need to sell before he can buy.

Agogo, in the final year of his contract, insists he is content to stay but is remaining open minded about his future.

"At the moment I just want to play for Bristol Rovers," Agogo told the Western Daily Press. "I'll just knuckle down and take each day as it comes.

"Speculation doesn't worry me at all. But you never know in football.

''One day you are here and the next day somewhere else.

"You just keep working hard and keep your fingers crossed."

Meanwhile, defender Jon Bass has stated his desire to earn a long-term deal at Rovers - having recently signed a six-month contract.

''I want to stay and play for Bristol Rovers, but it's up to me to prove I'm worth a longer deal,'' conceded Bass.

''If I want a longer deal then I have to be in the side and playing regularly.''
