Johnson agrees Stevenage loan

Northampton midfielder Bradley Johnson is to join Stevenage Borough on loan.

Northampton midfielder Bradley Johnson has agreed to join Conference side Stevenage Borough on a month-long loan deal.

The 19-year-old has not started a League One game this season and Cobblers boss John Gorman is eager for him to go out and gain some more first-team experience.

"Bradley has been doing very well in the reserves and in training," Gorman told Northampton's official website.

"It is in his interests to be playing first-team football. First-team football, even at a lower level, always has an edge that you don't find in the reserves and that will be good for his development.

"In any event, after this week's reserve-team game, we have very few reserve matches between now and mid-January, and at Bradley's age he really needs to be playing regular football.

"Ideally that would be first-team football, and we think he will benefit from this month on loan.

"It will improve his match sharpness and add to his experience, and I am sure he will come back an even better player for it."

Johnson, who spent a short spell on loan at Gravesend & Northfleet this time last year, will join up with Stevenage later this week and will be available for their clash against Grays on Saturday.
