Abbott rejects Dons deal

Huddersfield striker Pawel Abbott has rejected the chance to move to MK Dons.

Huddersfield Town striker Pawel Abbott has rejected the chance to swap clubs with Milton Keynes Dons defender Dean Lewington.

Abbott had been given permission by Terriers boss Peter Jackson to discuss a potential move to The National Hockey Stadium.

But, after speaking with MK Dons chief Martin Allen, Abbott has opted to stay put, much to Jackson's delight.

"Pav did go for talks with Martin Allen on Monday, but came back and said he wanted to stay here and prove himself," Jackson told the club's official website.

"It was the positive response I wanted from him and it is up to him now to do well.

"I certainly respect his decision. We had a chat afterwards and he says he wants to get in the side."

The former Poland Under-21 international found the net 14 times last season and has been a consistent scorer for Huddersfield since joining from Preston over two years ago.
