Lovell price deters Cherries

Kevin Bond concedes Bournemouth old boy Steve Lovell is out of his price range.

Bournemouth manager Kevin Bond concedes Cherries old boy Steve Lovell is out of his price range.

Lovell started his career at Dean Court before moving along the South Coast to Portsmouth eight years ago.

He currently plays for Aberdeen in the SPL, but has been linked with a return to Bournemouth for next season.

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood is hoping to hang on to the striker and would demand at least the £250,000 the club paid Dundee two years ago.

Bond admits to being interested in Lovell, but acknowledges the sums being quoted are beyond his Bournemouth budget.

"Steve Lovell is somebody I admire," Bond told the Daily Echo.

"I worked with him at Portsmouth and I certainly believe he would improve us.

"But he's not for free, so he would be a very expensive player for us in the situation we're in.

"But I like him a great deal."
