Jamaicans agree Bantams deals

Bradford City have agreed new contracts with Jermaine Johnson and Donovan Ricketts.

Bradford City have agreed new contracts with midfielder Jermaine Johnson and goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts.

The Jamaican duo will put pen-to-paper on new 12-month deals that will keep them both at Valley Parade until the end of next season.

Former Bolton Wanderers and Oldham Athletic man Johnson has impressed with Colin Todd's side since arriving on a season-long loan from Jamaican club Tivoli Gardens.

Ricketts (pictured) has established himself as Bantams number one since arriving at the League One club back in the summer of 2004.

With a number of Bradford players having contracts that expire at the end of the current season, Todd was delighted to keep his two Caribbean talents.

"It sends out the right message if the club are to move forward," Todd told the Bradford Telegraph & Argus. "This will give us a bit more security.

"They are both important players in the squad and we are pleased to keep them on board but it is important now that, having got the new contracts sorted out, they do not allow their standards to slip.

"They have got to maintain the level they have been performing at and keep trying to improve."
